Kamala Surayya is Based on Kamala Das’s autobiography “My Story,”. This play explores the journey of love, loss, and liberation through the protagonist’s pursuit of self-discovery and authenticity. Kamala’s narrative encompasses the complexities of relationships, societal expectations, and personal identity, ultimately leading to a liberation from societal constraints and the embrace of her true self.

About the Director: Randhir Kumar
Randhir Kumar, A director whose passion for storytelling knows no limits. From the bustling streets of Patna to the illustrious stages of RADA, UK, Randhir’s artistic odyssey knows no bounds. Graduating from the prestigious National School of Drama in 2008, Randhir’s expertise in design and theatre techniques sets him apart. He seeks to push the boundaries of theatre, exploring new possibilities with non-dramatic texts.
His journey is one adorned with accolades, including the esteemed by Ustad Bismilla Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for 2013-14, awarded for his outstanding contributions to the theatre world. He marked by prestigious fellowship on performing spaces, (conventional & non-conventional performing spaces) of Patna (Bihar) for the session of 2008-2009 and junior fellowship for the session of 2011-2013 awarded by Ministry of Culture, govt. of India.
As the founder and artistic director of “RAAGA” Repertory, Randhir’s vision shapes the landscape of Indian theatre. From classics to contemporary masterpieces, his productions, such as Baby, Dakghar, Navana, Voice of life, Jahajin, Putrid Prologue, Natmethia, Miss gulab jaan and Outcaste etc. resonate with audiences, leaving a lasting impression. Randhir’s journey through the realms of drama is as breathtaking as the productions he brings to life.
Ever since then working regularly as a director and designer for amateur and professional theatre groups of India and doing freelancing in theatre. Participated in prestigious gats festival china in 2009 and 2011s, as a production designer, attended Ibsen festival, Dhaka and attended performing art festival Pakistan. With over five hundred performances to his credit, his artistic journey resonates in every production, enriching audiences and inspiring a new generation of storytellers.

“RAAGA” is a vibrant collective of young and talented individuals in the world of theatre practitioners, Writers, Designer, Musicians and Visual & Fine Art Artist. Established in 2007, our group thrives in an era of diverse influences, aiming to unite artists from various backgrounds.
Our goal? In the age of Multidisciplinary and Multicultural world “RAAGA” aim’s is to collaborate with young & enthusiastic artist of varied field, Kinds and nature to come together and to create a beautiful fusion of talents, crafting works of art that reflect the complexities of today’s society. We are at the helm of political, social, religious, regional and ethnic contamination and contractions regularly into violence in various part of the country. We as a group, “RAAGA” are firm that only cultural interaction between all this fractions of the society can lead us to a harmonious society and nation state.
Our passion? Storytelling with no limits. We hope that the young and energetic artist of the country with their own modernist approach will create a huge different in the contemporary art practice scenario with hug investment of people’s culture. Our art creates an alternative voice in art history.
With over five hundred performances and a repertoire of twelve plays over the past fifteen years, we’ve not only showcased our skills but also organized theater festivals in Patna. Additionally, we’ve established the Shashi Bhushan Smriti Natya Samman, honoring the legacy of the late Shashi Bhushan, a revered theater artist from Patna.
Among our notable productions are “Dakghar,” “Baby,” “Jahajin,” “Putrid Prologue,” “Natmethia,” “Mirage,” “Outcaste,” and “Foul Play.” “RAAGA” continues to push boundaries and redefine contemporary art, deeply invested in preserving and celebrating our cultural heritage. We believe that our contributions will crate value in world of life and human.

रणधीर कुमार, एक ऐसे निर्देशक जिनकी कहानी कहने के जुनून की कोई सीमा नहीं है। पटना की हलचल भरी सड़कों से लेकर राडा, यूके के शानदार मंचों तक, रणधीर की कलात्मक यात्रा की कोई सीमा नहीं है। 2008 में प्रतिष्ठित नेशनल स्कूल ऑफ ड्रामा से स्नातक होने के बाद, रणधीर की डिजाइन और थिएटर तकनीकों में विशेषज्ञता उन्हें अलग बनाती है। वह गैर-नाटकीय पाठों के साथ नई संभावनाओं की खोज करते हुए, थिएटर की सीमाओं को आगे बढ़ाना चाहते हैं।
उनकी यात्रा प्रशंसाओं से सजी हुई है, जिसमें 2013-14 के लिए संगीत नाटक अकादमी का उस्ताद बिस्मिल्ला खान युवा पुरस्कार भी शामिल है, जो थिएटर जगत में उनके उत्कृष्ट योगदान के लिए दिया गया है। उन्हें 2008-2009 के सत्र के लिए पटना (बिहार) के प्रदर्शन स्थलों (पारंपरिक और गैर-पारंपरिक प्रदर्शन स्थलों) पर फेलोशिप और 2011-2013 सत्र के लिए संस्कृति मंत्रालय, सरकार द्वारा जूनियर फेलोशिप से सम्मानित किया गया।

“रागा” थिएटर पेशेवरों, लेखकों, डिजाइनर, संगीतकारों और दृश्य एवं ललित कला कलाकारों की दुनिया में युवा और प्रतिभाशाली व्यक्तियों का एक जीवंत समूह है। 2007 में स्थापित, हमारा समूह विविध प्रभावों के युग में फल-फूल रहा है, जिसका लक्ष्य विभिन्न पृष्ठभूमि के कलाकारों को एकजुट करना है।
हमारा लक्ष्य? बहु-विषयक और बहु-सांस्कृतिक दुनिया के युग में “रागा” का उद्देश्य विभिन्न क्षेत्रों, प्रकार और प्रकृति के युवा और उत्साही कलाकारों के साथ मिलकर काम करना और प्रतिभाओं का एक सुंदर मिश्रण तैयार करना है, जो कला के ऐसे कार्यों को तैयार करता है जो आज के समाज की जटिलताओं को प्रतिबिंबित करते हैं। हम राजनीतिक, सामाजिक, धार्मिक, क्षेत्रीय और जातीय संदूषण और देश के विभिन्न हिस्सों में नियमित रूप से हिंसा की चपेट में हैं। हम एक समूह के रूप में, “रागा” इस बात पर दृढ़ हैं कि समाज के सभी वर्गों के बीच केवल सांस्कृतिक संपर्क ही हमें एक सामंजस्यपूर्ण समाज और राष्ट्र राज्य की ओर ले जा सकता है।
हमारा जुनून? बिना किसी सीमा के कहानी सुनाना। हमें उम्मीद है कि देश के युवा और ऊर्जावान कलाकार अपने आधुनिकतावादी दृष्टिकोण के साथ लोगों की संस्कृति में भारी निवेश के साथ समकालीन कला अभ्यास परिदृश्य में एक बड़ा बदलाव लाएंगे। हमारी कला कला इतिहास में एक वैकल्पिक आवाज़ पैदा करती है।
पिछले पंद्रह वर्षों में पांच सौ से अधिक प्रदर्शन और बारह नाटकों के भंडार के साथ, हमने न केवल अपने कौशल का प्रदर्शन किया है बल्कि पटना में थिएटर महोत्सव भी आयोजित किए हैं। इसके अतिरिक्त, हमने पटना के प्रतिष्ठित थिएटर कलाकार स्वर्गीय शशि भूषण की विरासत का सम्मान करते हुए, शशि भूषण स्मृति नाट्य सम्मान की स्थापना की है।
